NEW RIDER SCHOOL June 2nd 2007 Noon – 3pm Flat Track Racing 4 – 9pm Saturday June 2nd FlattrackMN.com in conjunction with Ontrack Promotions will hold its 2nd New Rider School. The location will be the Isanti County Fairgrounds in Cambridge, MN. For a mere $65.00 you will get 3 hours of one on one education on the finer points of how to control a sliding motorcycle. Instructors will be current and former Grand National Professional Dirt Trackers. If you have ever had any desire to slide a motorcycle sideways, be it for racing purposes or street riding survival here is your opportunity. Whether you want to be a better dirt tracker, mx or road racer or simply a better prepared street rider you need to check this out. However please be fore warned this sliding a motorcycle around on dirt is very addicting. We take no responsibility for those of you that develop an uncontrollable urge to take up flat track racing. What are the benefits of this school to anyone other than a dirt tracker? MX riders can learn to turn without a berm and find traction on hard pack tracks. Road racers can master the art of controlling a sliding motorcycle, whether that slide is intentional or otherwise. Super Motard riders can learn to drift on the asphalt and the dirt. Anyone that has ever wanted to try flat track racing but was hesitant about spending the money to get started can see what it is all about. And those of you that couldn’t care less about racing will learn what to do and not do when you round the corner of your favorite road and hit that big patch of sand. As a rider all you will need to provide is your gear, something to drink, and a lot of energy. Necessary gear includes helmet, gloves, MX gear or leathers (street, supermoto, or road race) and MX or road race boots. When you are signing up please indicate you boot size and type (MX or road race) and we will have some steel shoes available to try. Motorcycles are limited to 80-125cc 4 strokes, whether you bring your own or use one of ours. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know what you are thinking. “What could I possibly learn riding a 125cc 10 horse power motorcycle”? An amazing amount! The mechanics of how you operate the bike and the positioning of your body are exactly the same whether you are sliding a Supermotard bike, Motocross bike, Road race bike, Flat Track bike, or your street bike. AMA Pro level Grand National Flat trackers, Road Racers, and Supermotard Racers use these exact bikes to train on. Ever heard of a guy named Nicky Hayden? XR 100’s helped him become World Champion. You will be grouped by skill level and goals. We expect riders of varying ages, skill levels and goals. For this reason the class will be divided into small groups of individuals of similar skill sets and body size. We will be riding on dirt and the track layouts will be ovals of varying size and a TT course (right and left hand turns) with a couple of small jumps. Also we will be doing a little thing we call the Mud Drill. As the name indicates this will be done in the mud and chances are you will fall so please select your riding gear accordingly. We will open the gates at 11:00am, class will begin at 12:00 and we will be riding by 12:30. Training will end at 3pm. Here are the limitations and requirements: * Riders must be competent in all aspects of motorcycle operation. This is not a "Learn to ride a motorcycle” class. * We don’t have an age minimum or maximum, but riders must be able to touch both feet to the ground on a XR 80. * You may bring your own bike, but it must be 80-125cc 4-stroke only. * You must pre-register and pay online or by check. * We require a minimum of 10 riders for this class. Max 20 * Must have an AMA Membership (available at the track for $39.00) For those of you that don’t feel 2 ½ hours of track time is enough, don’t sweat it. You can sign up to race the same evening. On the same night the fairgrounds will be host to our Saturday night races. We have a beginner class and classes to ride virtually any size bike. So basically for $65.00 (plus $10.00 track admission), the same price of a decent meal and a couple drinks you can get one on one instruction with current and former Grand National Professionals, learn to become a better racer, MX racer, supermotard racer or street rider, decide if this flat track racing thing is really for you, become the Sultan of Slide, get over 3 hours of track time, and most important, have a TON OF FUN!
