TOPIC: Bultaco Astro 195 Model

Bultaco Astro 195 Model 10 Feb 2013 22:09 #186901

Any idea if much demand for a Bultaco Astro 195 Model? All original paint been sitting under the cover sine the 80's. Considering maybe parting with it.

In 2 words...

HELL YES!

The 195 is desirable in any condition
for multiple reasons!

(1) Fast in 250 form! :)
(2) Pop the Top & it's a 360 or 370! :)
(3) It's An Astro...Period! :)

Where are you located and how much? 517-263-5413. Larry.
All I want when I race is to finish with the bike still between my legs, preferably with the shiny side up!

Does Antone produce replacement seat& tank for the checkerboard style 1975 and can anyone match the paint so that it looks original? I would like to restore my 360 but not to race it for nothing but I might enter the pit show and tell.

Randy,
the guy on Ebay is in Spain &
it's gonna push $1,500 seat & all...after shipping!

Astro tanks & tails are used on Ebay almost monthly &
a guy also advertizes on Ebay that recovers the seats
including foam & base repairs...He's in Washington State &
Very Very Good & reasonable at $50-$75 turn around!

A Pomeroy 74 Pursang tank or 75 tank...125-360 same thing!
Hell...71-75...all about the same thing!

Call Hughs & ask them for the number of their paint guy in Texas,
just say you got a Maico or something & they will give you his number
so you can deal with him directly!
All the Decal Sets are reproduced by Hughs!
You have 2 choices in styles
First set was Orange-Black-White...1975 M145-146
Second set...Yellow-Black-White...1976 M163-164-195

Choose the first set...it's my favorite!

Oh...
Tank & Tail paintwork is usually about $300 plus decal set at about $150
unless it needs glasswork or cream!

Hope this helps some...Seeya :)

Hughs Bultaco is in NY &
may also have reproduction glass,
they just reproduced the M68 stuff & it's sweet!

Randy,
I have a guy that does "World Class" work for me down here. Ask Art or anyone that has seen the "Terry Poovey / Bultaco Astro Tribute Bike" from a couple yrs. ago. Or you can look at the recently done #15 "Garth Brow Tribute Bike" picture on another forum Astro thread. Pictures DO NOT do that paint work justice....it is beautiful!!!!

I always have him do pearl white instead of the Std. factory white & translucent candy apple red over a heavy metalic base coat instead of the regular factory red & then he hand pin stripes them with the normal yellow pin striping before putting a kajillion coats of clear over top of everything.

I seal the tanks first with Caswell tank sealer and use all of the original graphics but it looks much classier with the pearl & candy red with all that clear over everything.

I also have a guy that does the custom Astro seats for me with the 3" wide sued down the middle.

I can get this quality of work done for anyone that wants it for much less than that Std. Astro stuff on ebay.
