The Gabe thread 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Yea this one is all about me only. I heard through the grape vine people were asking about me and I thought I would let you all know that I am AOK !! Well as ok as a rabid FT fan can be I guess.
I am still a bit of a mess from my crash last March and may never go racing again because of it. 9 bones broken in 21 places, ruptured and collapsed lung and all sorts of musle and various tissue damage etc. Plus a 65k hospital bill and then on going treatment for a few weeks. The fun part was the morphine ( but I would have given me more if I had gotten my hands on the stuff) and the massive bottles of pain killers they sent me home with Dang near got addicted to those things I was talking so many. A few miserable days in the hospital from hell and a month off work are almost to much to risk again. I am still feeling the pain of it at times and have not been able to do much upper body exercise yet. Just really lite stuff. So maybe another year or more to full recovery? Good greif Charlie Brown.

So I have reinvented myself for the time being and am turning my TT540 into a street tracker. Yes it's going to be wicked cool . I sold my Yamaha Mule xs750 to pay down some bills and life will go on.
So now I am into backpacking and what do you know? Not a sigle trip to the hospital yet High Sierra's fly fishing, camping and stuff. It's fun. Maybe going to do something safe from now on. Like mountain climbing next. Bag a few peaks as they say. That seems safe right ?
So far it has been and I have caught tons of nice trout along the way. I will probably get mangled by a bear some day with my kind of luck but what the heck. I have a BIG Bowie knife so bring it on you big hairy sucker. You would not believe how close I have been to some big bears already.........man are they hairy and damn quick too.

Anyway I am rambbling on. It's sort of what I do ya know. I alo have been really getting into my salt water reefs aquariums again and naturally my huge organic vege garden is ripping away. I also am building a wood fired Pizza and bread baking oven in my back yard. You fans are all invited over for a massive party when it is done. We will burn down and sack my place for a change OK? Now more race track looting and burning. Those days are long gone ok?

So " The Gabe " is alive and well and all fired up to play the pickum contest again and follow the flattrack race season as usual. I hope to make it it out to one or two of those National in Arizona also. Perhaps Mule and me will team up and go together. Who knows.
At any rate thanks for be a Gabe fan and helping me through my dark hours in the hospital and beyound. I look forward to giving all of you a hard time and so forth for many years to come. Might even race again if I can get recovered and get up the nerve after what happened to me last time. Perhaps it's time to let it go and just be big old FAN !!!

Hey Gabe, you ever notice when you fill a prescription for Vicodin at the pharmacy, there's always a coupon for laxative on the back of the receipt?

Gabe?
Gabe Who?
Oh...That Gabe!

You sound like a "Man With A Plan!"
I love it Gabe!

I don't mean to rain on your parade
But...
I gotta remind you, I get busted, ripped & burnt
all to freak'n hell...more at home...
than I ever did on the track!

The "Bear" thing would probably be
my personal greatest concern!

You take care of you & your family first...
I have been thinking about you these past months...

Why I outa..................I am buying a nice DSLR Camera and may be at Willow praticing with it and learning how to use it. I hear that if you grab it by the strap and swing it around real fast it can deliver a very large LUMP on the head.

Yea I noticed that. I forgot to mention the large bottles of those things that went along with the pain killers . What was really funny is about a week after the accident ( before the laxitives had kicked in yet ) I was at the doctor getting x rayed etc and Mule was with me ( I could not drive yet) in the office and the doctor put the x rays up on the screen and we were looking at all of the damage etc and then he pointed out this large grey area and said I was full of crap !!!! I would have laughed my head off if I could have laughed. Richard was in stiches. Me , full of crap ? Why I outa....................I just had to sit and take it. I did say " Can you believe this guy Richard?" I mean the nerve of Doctors these days talking to a smashed up patient like that?

That's called "The Pace Car" Gabe.

It goes really slow, then pulls out of the way for the faster traffic to go by.

Hey Joe..Yea I remember that kind of stuff. Now when that happens you lay there. This was the first crash I ever had where I could not get up and left in the old meat wagon.

Pace Car huh... Good one man. I like that. Funny. It didn't look much like a car in the x ray.
