Explanation, ok I know he is your deregulation hero but: A special procecutor was appointed, a republican imagine that, he convicted McFarlane, for withholding information. North, for obstruction of justice, misleading congress, accepting an illegal gratuity. Poindexter, conspiricy. Cline, for falsifing tax records. He also said that Reagan and Bush new about or at least acquiesced to the scandal. In all 11 people were convicted of crimes.
Fawn Hall,North's secretary testified to shredding documents, and smuggling others out of the NSC in her boots and blouse.
North admitted to lying to congress, destroying evidence, operating US inititives in violation of law, and participating in a cover up, Reagan called him a "national hero".
