Gas City Bultaco Cup Winner 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
The weather cooperated and the first Bultaco Cup race is in the books..

Bill Snyder inhered the lean and the eventual win in the Bultaco Cup. Bubba Long aboard a 250cc Astro looked a sure winner until just two laps from the checkers his Bultaco uttered metal to metal, noises and coasted to a stop. Bill Snyder blew home taking the win in style aboard his 350 Astro. followed across the like by Preston Dorfmeyer in second, and the AMA's own Ken Saillant,in third.

Our own Willard Kelly, Wild Will was in the hunt in the early going, but a crash by JHenry brought about a restart. On teh restart Wild Will's Ar the dart sponsored Astro loaded up and sent Willard to the back of the pack..The afore mentioned Art the Dart suffered a broken primary chain and coasted to a stop...
In the main event of the evening Hammerin Hank Wiles took the win followed by Jared Mees, and Smokin Joe Kopp making it Kawasaki, Honda, Honda on the podium.

In the Pro main, Yamaha mounted Jeffery carver Jr. took the top spot over the Honda's of James "The Rocket Rospoli, and Brian Tapp.

I will say Art's trailer load, eleven, Bultack Astro's made my hear leap!!

Could this have been the workings of a psychic soldier, perhaps someone from the forum, using his powers to ensure a win for one of our members?

Bubba blew past the line, and we head a crunch and a clank and that was all she wrote..sisi

Art de Dart made the restart, but simply disappeared, the primary chain having parted company...JHenry took two tumbles, one in practice, twisting up the handle bars on his Art de Dart sponsored ride..

I felt sorry for WW, he was on his game early on, but the bike failed to launch on the restart and never really cleaned out and ran right for the rest of the race...

It was neat meeting all the forum members and others that stopped by to say they were lurkers, and enjoyed reading he mail om Flattrack.com..

And now to bed..

Hi Hos,
I simply figured....

"Hey! It's an all Bultaco race.
What are the odds of stuff falling off and / or breaking".

Seriously...... Cool event.
Art, you are cut from solid stock. A true man of honor.

Note:
Enjoy it now as I will be back to busting your power sanded man parts
come Monday.

Cheers!
Dale

Bubba Long is a forum member "BLong23" however Bill Snyder is not.
Maybe I'm reading your comment wrong Wayne.

Thanks JG, good looking out brother...Had a blast at Gas City, big thanks to Mike Kidd and the AMA for such a cool event. The piston was broke when dad took off the top end today, 3 more laps and we would have been in there. Oh well thats racing, big thanks to Larry Barnes for letting us ride his Bul, and also to Art the Dart who hooked us up with a whole bike for spare parts when are brakes stopped working(even though could never get that one fixed)i think only 5 out of 10 bikes/riders survived the full program, if this is going to be an annual event these Bultaco parts could get pretty scarce. Once again cool event and look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

Bill told me he has a computer it's just not hooked up

I was teasing Bubba to be fair, with his age advantage, he needed to wear an opaque visor....

I was truly amazed to find out that I'm older then WW??? Could have fooled me???

well darn it, I thought Bill was a member. But that's okay.
He is a Bultaco hero.
I hope he gets hooked up so he can join us.

I enjoyed a conversation with him while I was checking out the Bull's in the pits.. I walked up and there was a group of guys sitting around, so I asked who owned the Bultaco's, as Bill had two very nice Astro's with #4's on them.

I quipped that I knew they were not Bart Markel's bikes, even through they had, nice number 4's on the plates and Bill shot back, "I loaned Bart the number for a few years"

Bill cracks me up... I always either pit by him or at least stop by and check him out at some point. I'll ask questions about the track, etc... Great guy to talk to... gives plenty of advice... you just never know if he's serious or BS-ing you!

So where the heck is Art? I don't think I've seen any posts or comments from him since the race... Has he recovered from the weekend yet?
