European Race Report

6 May 2011

Get ready for another great season of flat track racing in Europe!
With national championships in the UK, Italy, Czech Republic and the German based Mefo Sport Flattrack Cup, this American extreme sport is now more popular than ever in the old world!
In just one week the Mefo cup kicks of just across the German border in Blijham, the Netherlands on May 15th. After last year’s race didn’t work out, the Dutch are very excited to welcome the flat trackers to the ‘Kuip’, where the cup regulars can expect some fierce competition from the local grass track aces joining in.

After Blijham there will be 9 more rounds in and around Germany before the 2011 Champion is crowned. There is again a 5000 Euro prize purse secured thanks to the continuous support of Mefo sport, Harley-Davidson Switzerland, W&W cycles, Celtibero, Acerbis & Ariete!
The highlight of this season could well be the TT Steeplechase in Rohrbachgraben, Switzerland. A TT race has both left and right hand turns and a high speed jump, which will make for some very spectacular racing!
We also welcome new riders Stefan Claussen and road racer Leonhard Eibl, both representing Germany. They have been training hard, keen to perform well, as they join German star Stefan Gatzenmeier in his quest to bring home the championship.
Last but not least, we are very proud to announce that American flat track star Michelle Disalvo will be racing in selected rounds this season. Michelle grew up racing flat track in America and she will definitely give the cup regulars some strong competition!
