Lawrence Goes Green: Gets the Edge |

Craig Steyn of Edge Performance is very pleased to announce that his Bradford Ont. based shop will be sponsor for national number 73 Doug Lawrence of Mississauga Ontario in the American Motorcyclists Association Grand National Singles Flat Track Championship. Doug will ride the 2009 Edge Kawasaki KX450F and will ride selected Canadian Motorcycle Association events as well. "We met Doug through an employee of mine, Drew Robison ." explained Steyn from his shop, "Doug comes highly recommended so when the opportunity came up that we could help him he came up and we worked out a deal. He’s a good young man who comes from a good family and although I have yet to see him ride, his standings are impressive and hopefully we can help with that." Lawrence will start his season with entries in the Florida flat track series and will be competing in Savannah Georgia, then on to the Barberville Florida to Volusia Speedway for the Saturday night Feb 28th and Sunday Mar 1st before moving on to the Daytona Short Track double-header on March 4th and 5th. This is Lawrence’s second career appearance for the green guys as he won the Canadian Motorcycle Association 250 Junior class championship on a Kawasaki in 1998. |

The Nor-Cal VS. So-Cal Shoot Out at the Chowchilla Barn Burner was a fast race in deed! On December 6, 2008 riders from all over the place made their way out to the flat oval track at the Chowchilla-Madera County Fair Grounds to shoot it out. Participants raced 20 laps around the short track competing for the grand prize. The top three to finish the race were: 1st Jethro Halbert #69
2nd Sam Halbert #43
3rd Jimmy Wood #66
The purse paid $280 to the first place winner, $168 to the second and $112 to the third place winner.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Decmber 12, 2008) - AMA Pro Racing today announced the 2009 AMA Pro Racing Grand National Flat Track Series schedule. The schedule features the traditional season opener on March 4-5, 2009 at the Municipal Stadium in Daytona Beach, Florida as part of the Daytona Bike Week of racing events. "Having the majority of our schedule ready to announce at this time will provide our fans, promoters, teams and sponsors a change to prepare for an exciting series, " said AMA Pro Racing Director of Flat Track, Mike Kidd. "We can now move forward in working to secure additional dates and other top priorities for the 2009 season. |

Hi everyone!!! I wanted to take a moment and wish you all a Happy and Health Holiday Season. As the year winds down with Christmas, Hanukah and New Years, I look back and think of all the things good and bad that happened to me. The 2008 season was especially challenging for me after losing my mom just before we were to take off for the season opener at Daytona.
Every year my mom looked forward to the warm weather and even the smell of race fuel. She was the best pit mom a kid could ever have and she was pit mom to a lot of kids too! If it wasn't for the total support of my family and friends it would have been very difficult. I know I am clearly blessed to have such great people around me as I make this journey to chase the dream of a professional motorcycle racer. |
