RACE REPORT # 6 / BULLS GAP, LIMA,  & DUQUOIN

BULL’S GAP, TN. – JUNE 20TH – 1ST  place

I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get this race report written. I just got back home last week after a month on the road racing.  Our trip started here in Washington – first stop, Owensboro, Kentucky – where I met up with my racing partner, J.D. Beach. We hung out there for a couple of days before heading to Bulls Gap for the next round of pro racing in the GNC series. The track there was pretty knarly – it had banking that was 32 degrees – which is the same as Daytona Speedway. From the get go, I knew it was my kind of track and that it was going to be a good day! In qualifying, things went according to plan – I had fast time in the pro singles class by almost a ½ of a second and my time was good enough to be  fourth overall in the expert twins class. I was pretty pumped after hearing this and ready to go take back the championship points lead that I lost in the last round. I won my heat by a half a straightaway over my friend JD and my lap times had decreased since qualifying.

Living the dream; US Grand Prix Laguna Seca PDF Print E-mail
Written by James Rispoli

The words "living the dream" never meant so much to me as they did on this past  weekend at the US Grand Prix, Laguna Seca AMA round. I know every expert club rider and the majority of pros would drop almost anything to hop a ride on one of the most successful AMA pro road race teams in the business.  The names Roadracingworld.com, M4 Suzuki and Ulrich are synonymous with bringing forward stars like Schwantz, Hopkins, Spies, Young, May, Cárdenas and many, many more. So when dad said he got a call from John Ulrich and discussed a "one-off" ride at Laguna Seca when the MotoGP boys were in town I couldn't believe it.  All I could think of is out of everyone in the country, ME!

Mikey Avila Race Report PDF Print E-mail

This past week I attended the AMA Amateur Grand National Dirt Track Races in DuQuoin, Illinois.  My father (Jerry) and I left California on the long trip back with a truck full of bikes, parts, fuel, tires and the hopes and dreams of winning a national championship and a shot at the coveted AMA Horizon award. It has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid to have a chance at winning this award. I knew from prior experience the competition would be extremely tough.

My week started out a little shaky with the hot weather affecting me, plus we just couldn't quit find the bike set-up for the mile.  Luckily I made all of the mains directly from the heats. The first main was the 450 DTX and I struggled during most of the race but ended up with a fifth place finish.

Matts Race Report - Frederick, Maryland PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rachel Weidman
Tuesday, 07 July 2009
This would be the 87th year for the Barbara Fritchie Classic at the Frederick, Maryland Fairgrounds and the third year for Matthew racing there. The day is usually spent chasing Jared Mees around, and this year looked like it might be the same, with a new player in the mix, Sammy Halbert. The three put on a great show for the fans all day, as they were together in almost all their scratch heats, heats, dash and the mains. Each one took turns winning races during the day, Matt won the Dash and his 750 heat, setting pole for the 750 main.
