We raced the Castle Rock Grand National, last weekend. It was great to be at my home track.
On Friday night, we raced the short track. In the Pro Singles class, I led for most of the laps, then Brandon Robinson passed me with about two to go. In the the Pro Twins class, I came off third behind Jared Mees and Sammy Halbert. I hung with them for a few laps and then let them go, because I knew I wasn't going to get past them.
Sacramento went really well for the team!
We started off by qualifying 3rd overall in the first practice session. The track was very slick, but it was a lot of fun throwing it into the corner.
By the first qualifying session, the track had a small groove on it. I qualified 2nd behind Kyle Johnson.
In the second qualifying session, it was very dry slick and I could hardly see. They watered the track for the second group, so their times were a lot faster. That dropped me to eighth.
I was in the second heat. I came off turn three in third, and noticed that Dominic Colindres's bike had started smoking. I backed off some. By then, I was in seventh. Then, Dominic's bike blew up, and Nate Wait went down going into turn three, and the race was red flagged. In the restart, I got off second to Kyle Johnson and stayed in that position.
In the main, I got a good start. I was leading it, but Dominic drafted by me. I got him back, then led the whole race down to the last two laps. Then, Kyle and I had a good battle. On the last lap, I followed him down the back stretch and into 3 and 4. I tried to draft by him, down the front straight, but came up short by 0.025.
