The final two point rounds will be run on
the Caribbean island to determine the hotly contested Inaugural
Manufacturers World Cup Ice Racing Championship between Shaun Russell and
Johnny Murphree. Also headed to Puerto Rico will be the I.C.E. Outlaw Pro
Quads, X-Karts and the fun and popular Rocket Racing Bar Stools.
Going into the Canadian leg of the Inaugural
Manufacturers World Cup Ice Racing Championships, the points battle to win
is at a virtual tie! Shaun Russell and Johnny Murphree are tied with 320
World Cup Points each after the most recent event in St. Paul, MN. The World
Cup Championship will most certainly come down to the final two WC Points in
Puerto Rico.
Five major motorcycle brands have points
on the board with the Inaugural Manufacturers World Cup Ice Racing
Championships. The new series was designed specifically with a 450cc, 4-5
stroke, single cylinder factory based rules formula. Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki,
KTM and Husqvarna have all been raced in main events this winter, scoring
world cup points. Thus far, Honda machines have been most prevalent and are
dominating the manufacturers points chase but Yamaha, Suzuki and KTM have
made the podium. A great indication for a strong future for this new series.
With Shaun Russell's recent Loveland,
CO victory, four different riders have won rounds of the Inaugural
Manufacturers World Cup Ice Racing Championships. Joining Russell with two
victories each are Johnny Murphree and Jared Mees along with Joe Kopp who
won the Everett, WA Round. There could be more winners posted as strong
series riders Jimmy Wood, Shane Vance and Mike Gilkey are knocking on the
door. The new manufacturers 450cc Cup bikes and their riders have produced
some of the most competitive ice racing ever seen!
