Flattrack.Com catches up with the newest member of the Harley Davidson Racing Team Kenny Coolbeth National #31

FT.Com
Thanks Kenny for giving us your time in such a short notice before Daytona.

Kenny: No problem just grabbed a few minutes from getting stuff ready for Daytona.

FT.Com
Congratulations on being selected as an official racer for the Harley Davidson Team in 2006. How did that come about and what was your response when you where told?

Kenny: Thank you; this is a dream come true for me. When I was first contacted I thought "this is awesome". I didn't really know what to expect but after several phone calls and such things really started coming together and I couldn't be happier. An opportunity like this relieves alot of stress.

FT.Com
How long has Kenny Coolbeth been racing motorcycles and whatever made you become Interested in it?

Kenny : My first race was when I was 5 years old. I had been around racing my whole life.. My Dad's Dad raced and so did my Dad. So it's in the blood.

FT.Com
Tell us more about the Harley deal, will you be collecting a salary like the Suzuki guys? Will you still have dad there helping you? I couldn’t imagine him not being there, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a race and not see Ken. He’s got to be so proud of you now.

Kenny: The deal is a great deal, but some things are better left unsaid. Harley did ask about my Dad and his involvement. Things will pretty much be the same as years past; my Dad will definitely be a part of things. The only difference will be we will not be stressing during the week.

FT.Com
Please tell us a little more what Kenny Coolbeth was like growing up? Did you race when you where young, when, where? Where did you attend High School?

Kenny: I would say that I was your typical kid... My mom spanked me quite a bit because I liked the extreme side of things. I rode Bicycles a lot; everywhere and even to school. I attended Wamogo Regional High School.

FT.Com
Who are some of your best buds out there on the circuit any certain ones you hang with More than others? What’s your favorite foods and drink?

Kenny: Mike Hacker definitely.. we pretty much grew up together and we talk everyday. But I do talk to everyone as well. We are all professionals and get along very well. Favorite foods? I don't really have any, but I do cook!

FT.Com
You have any brothers or sisters? If so do they attend races?

Kenny: I have a sister Marsha that attends most of the races

FT.Com
You have any tracks you favor the most? And how nationals have you won and where?

Kenny: I like them all.. Stock car tracks are a favorite for me. When I was a rookie I struggled on the cushion tracks; but I have now adapted well.

FT.Com
Another (Team HD question) now you are a full fledged team member of Harley Davidson and they don’t really have a single to run in the 450 Light class, what’ the plan there? You going to ride a Buell, Rotax or what?

Kenny: I will be riding Bettencourts Honda; who will be headlining me for the lite series. I am super thrilled about that and graciously thankful.

FT.Com
Got any favorite TV shows? LOL

Kenny- No time for TV

FT.Com
In the past couple days there have been some press releases from the AMA regarding improvements for Dirttrack, have you read them? And if so is there anything you would like to add or say that could help the state our sport is in ( myself I think the guys at AMA are doing a outstanding job with what they have to work with ) I mean the contingency cash is finally here.

Kenny- I have not read the Press releases in regard to improvements. The contingency program is great and very good for the sport.

FT.Com
How will your contingency work on the singles thing?

Kenny.. Same way as everyone else...

FT.Com
You a gamer meaning Play Station X Box etc.”

Kenny: No; I never had one.

.FT.Com
Single? Married? Dating? Committed? For the ladies out there
J

Kenny: Sorry ladies.. I have a girlfriend

FT.Com
Do you a have a work out routine to stay in shape during the off season?

Kenny: Of Course.. I work on cardio and endurance. I have a stationary bike which I train on. Do some free weights but not a whole lot of weight training. Now that we have ice.. I have been ice riding alot!

FT.Com
Hey, hows the flat tack school going I almost forgot about that one, is there contact information for those who may want to attend

Kenny "Come Train with the Pro's Cross Training School" is doing well. He had a great season in 05 and we are getting dates figured out for 06. We will be adding other instruction classes as well. Keith Jacobsen is the mastermind behind it and he can be reached at 845-361-2281

FT.Com
Have you noticed any younger kids these days that could possibly be the next Grand National Champion? Now is this the year Kenny Coolbeth wins his first #1 plate?
J

Kenny I haven't been to the Amateur Nationals but I am sure there are plenty of good young riders coming up. A future Grand National Champion would be PJ Jacobsen. He has many accomplishments and is a thrill to ride with. I ride with him almost every week.

FT.Com
Have you visited the Harley Factory yet?

Kenny Yes I was there about 3 weeks ago. The place is unbelievable and huge. I could find my way around by myself!

FT.Com
Tell us in your own words what you would like to see done within the next 2years that will make Dirt track a mainstay in AMA Racing , I mean we’ve been treated with very little respect as far as TV packages, promotion etc. How can the sport attract more promoters? We need new blood, any suggestions where to find it.

Kenny: I think the AMA is doing great. They are working hard and trying different things to keep this sport going.

FT.Com
I think Jennifer at “She Loves Racing” is just fantastic at promotional ideas, helping racers obtain sponsors, how much has she helped you? I suggest all guys and gals to check out her website, you may learn something.
www.shelovesracing.com

Kenny: Jennifer has helped me quite a bit; she is a big part of my program. I call her and ask about different things and without hesitation she gets it done. She can put on paper exactly what I need. She keeps my website www.kennycoolbeth.com up to date and looking great. I think she is working on my 2006 Man and Machine cards at the moment.

FT.Com
We are stoked about you getting the factory Harley ride, it couldn’t have happened to a better guy. In closing is there anything you would like to add or touch base on? Once again that's the we here at FT.Com wish you the best and hope you win some nationals this year for Team Harley Davidson. See you in Savanah!!!

Kenny- I am looking forward to racing again and to win championships. I will stay healthy and I look forward in making Harley Davidson and Bettencourts proud.

Thank you to all my fans!
