Race Report:  LIMA OHIO

Lima Ohio National is now complete and all I can say is WOW! I made a prediction that we would make the main event and we were so close I could taste it. The KTM is working the best it ever has and the team is figuring the setups better and better every weekend. I cannot thank the team enough for all their hard work and devotion.

We started the day qualifying 20th overall… 20th!!! That’s our best effort to date, but even more importantly we were the fastest non Harley Davidson in the field. That’s an awesome feat and proved that we can run at the GNC level. I felt great on the bike with the settings we chose and thanks to RLJ Racing the motor was running real strong.  Next task put it in the main event.

This week we were in Lima, Ohio, a historic race track with good old Ohio peagravel.  I ran here for the first time last year on the Aprilia twin and had a good time.  This year when I walked the track it was really, really deep almost everywhere on the track.  It was going to make for some really FUN  times especially in the first practice.  Chris Carr told me my first lap will be the best lap I would have all year so enjoy it.  And, as luck would have it, I was in the first group second rider to head on to the track and boys let me tell you it was SWEEEEEET.  It was WIDE-OPEN all the way around the track and I had a smile from ear-ear under my AGV helmet.  To top it off I don't even think I took a breath until the checkered flag flew 4 laps later; what a blast!

JARED MEES REPORT

Lima OH, Saturday, June 27, 2009

Lima, Lima, Lima. This is a place that I was looking forward to. I went into this race 5 points behind Kenny Coolbeth and thought that, if things went right, I could close the gap if not take over the points lead. The weather wasn't the normal hot, muggy Lima. It wasn't bad. When we got there the track looked very deep and dry. The last couple of years it seems they were trying to conserve water.
